...and so it begins.

Lucy. Female. 23. Friends, film, music, experience, conversation, clothes. The rest is history. This is my blog. I use it more so as a diary, a place to record, document, share, moan and marvel but most importantly, it allows me to say what I want. And if you're interested in what I have to say, then that's fabulous :-)

This was 2010.

2010 was a fabulous year, in hindsight. The low points were meeting and getting involved with a couple of pathetic excuses for men but jeez it’s become apparent that I was and am much better, and happier, without. I’ve been a very lucky girl this year to have done so many wonderful things, and more importantly to have had so many really brilliant people to do them with. If I had to do an Oscar’s-style speech on my year, this would be it. James has had to put up with my breakdown’s, my moaning, my bossiness and my drunkenness, and I love him terribly for doing so. Ben was always around to give me a hug and make me laugh, and I really could not forget my old school friends Adam and Kay, who I have known all my life. I’ve also made some brilliant friends this year, I’ve made a good friend in Aimee who proves that girls can be knowledgeable about football, and as for Shannan, Tom, Elliot, Vass and SSJ - you were my festival heroes and responsible for some brilliant nights out this year. And finally, Lou Draper. You absolute beaut. You’re the one person who never forgot to text me and ask how I was. That meant the absolute world. You’re fabulous, and here’s to 2011 with you!

So, this, was 2010, in the tiniest of nutshells:

The best

  • Barcelona with James. It was just fantastic; we did so much and saw so much. A great trip.
  • Stars in their Eyes 2010 at the Abbey Theatre, where I was La Roux! Nothing quite beats the rush of adrenalin as you wait for those doors to open and you step out on stage…
  • Arcade Fire at Leeds festival. In fact that whole night in general. I quote Anna during The Cribs ‘Shall we go back to our tent, get wine, smuggle it into the arena and get totally hammered?’ We did JUST that, and danced our way through The Libertines and Arcade Fire. And met Ben the bricklayer and Noel Fielding’s double… SUCH a fantastic night. One of the best of the year.
  • Jon Dunne’s house… Ricky, Titch and hog roasts. Honestly one of the funniest nights I’ve ever had. I was actually hysterical with laughter and I still laugh just thinking about it.
  • Going to Gordon Ramsey’s at Claridges for lunch in June with Emily. It was dead posh but dead nice.
  • Claridges for lunch AGAIN in November with my Mum this time, AND we got shown around Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen!
  • New York in November. Just amazing.
  • The Stratford Dragonboat race. Sunny day, loads of Brothers cider, loads of friends in one of my most favourite places.
  • London for the weekend with James in January, which included lots of tourism, a Jack the Ripper ghost walk and We Will Rock You in the West End.
  • Leaving and graduating from Uni. I enjoyed the hood and mortar board wearing and the ceremony itself.

And the rest…

  • Valentines Day. No, I didn’t have a hot date, but I spent the day getting drunk and bonding with Emily, thus forgetting about the commercialised meaning of February the 14th.
  • Seeing and discovering Inception, as I now class it as one of the most fantastic films ever made.
  • Adam’s house in February. I had a Saturday off work, and we got drunk at his, ran around his street with a wheel chair. It was just loads of fun.
  • Drayton Manor with Ben, Mike, Rosie, James, Tom, Bryony, Wilby, Stu, Katie, Dan and Westie.
  • Seeing Lady fucking GaGa.
  • One sunny Saturday where I went to Riversley Park with Shannan, Tom, Sam, Anna and Elliot, then at night went to a BBQ at Dave’s house. Was just a good day where I saw all my friends.
  • The World Cup. Mates, pub, beer – it was just a really fun time. And I won £140 on bets.
  • Leeds Festival. Surprised me with how much fun I had there. I loved camping with Shannan, Tom, Sam, Anna, Elliot, Luke, Steffi and Jack. Mega funzzz.
  • Silent disco at Leeds festival. Home and work seemed a million miles away.
  • Thorpe Park. SAW film rides, yes!
  • Muse at Wembley, stunning.
  • Dressing up round Adam’s house in September.
  • Our Eggheads audition.
  • The Colly for Wilby’s birthday and then the night after we had the ridiculously fun party at Olner Manor. A really great weekend.
  • Various outdoor Tav events where all my friends bands played.
  • Watching None of your Fucking Business at the Tav, followed by Kunt and the Gang. We all sat in a big circle on the Tav lawn and it was ace.
  • That Wednesday night by the Scout Hut… (cheers for that one Bryony!)
  • The Prodigy at Milton Keynes bowl.
  • Arcade Fire at the LG… fantastic gig.
  • Seeing so many fantastic new films… Inception, The Social Network, Buried, Paranormal Activity 2, Saw 7, Let Me In.
  • Leicester with Danielle and Lou, vintage fair shopping and Yo! Sushi lunch.
  • Center Parcs with Adam, Aimee and James!
  • My 22nd birthday… Shahi with Kay, Lomax, Adam, Sam, Aimee, Elliot, Luke, Ben, James, Lou and Danielle. So good, so drunk, followed by pool at the Tav and Bilberries karaoke!
  • German market for Danielle’s birthday.
  • Christmas, seeing my friends, having nice gifts, walks in the park.

This list could quite easily be 20 times longer, but I guess I should get on with 2011, and step gracefully out of 2010.

So long x
